Sunday, August 8: Arrive Portland. Welcome Dinner Upon arrival in Portland, Maine take the hotel provided shuttle to the Embassy Suites Hotel near the airport. We will meet as a group at 5:00pm in the hotel to make introductions, enjoy some refreshments and then depart for dinner. (D)
Monday, August 9: Scenic Drive to Bar Harbor Our day begins with a scenic drive along Route 1 to Camden. Camden is an upscale seaside community with breathtaking estates and mansions dotting the hills and oceanside. It is considered by some to be one of the most beautiful places in New England. Its town motto is "where the mountains meet the sea". After lunch, we will continue our drive to Bar Harbor. Once we arrive in Bar Harbor we will get checked in and then have dinner together. (B,D)
Tuesday, August 10: Acadia National Park After a restful evening, we will spend the day exploring Acadia National Park, including a drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain to enjoy panoramic views of Bar Harbor and the surrounding area. Can you spot the "bar" that gave the town its name? After a full day we will return to town where you can enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers. (B)
Wednesday, August 11: Bar Harbor Windjammer Cruise, Free Time Today we begin our day with an exciting windjammer cruise around the harbor. Enjoy the breeze and the smell of the sea! This delightful cruise will be a great opportunity to see the land from the sea before we have to take our leave. After our cruise, the remainder of the afternoon is free to explore Bar Harbor. The rock-bound coast and soaring granite cliffs add to the magic of Bar Harbor. We will have dinner together this evening. (B,D)
Thursday, August 12: Boothbay and Freeport, Return to Downtown Portland Today we travel south back to Portland with a stop in Boothbay on the Atlantic Ocean. This charming sea-side town boasts a beautiful harbor with dozens of tiny islands. No visit to Maine would be complete without a stop in Freeport. Here you'll find an entire town of outlet stores surrounding the famous LL Bean store. It's a fun place to visit and we'll do just that on our way back to Portland. Check in and relax. There are many restaurants near the hotel to choose from. (B)
Friday, August 13: Portland Headlight, Free Time in Portland, Farewell Dinner Our day will begin with a visit to the Portland Headlight. This lighthouse was commissioned by George Washington and is the most photographed lighthouse in America. After some additional sightseeing around Portland, we return to town where you will have the remainder of the day to explore on your own. We will get together this evening for our farewell dinner. (B,D)
Saturday, August 14: Return Home Return home at your leisure. The WTT tour leader will assist in coordinating ride-shares to the airport. (B)
